There are many good quality texts on different aspects of Yorùbá grammar in bookstores. However, this present book, New Horizons in Yorùbá Grammar is unique in depth, scope, data, and analysis. First, it strives to meet both descriptive and explanatory adequacies as the chapters are well arranged in a simple, coherent, and sequential manner to make a whole. The book which comprises seventeen chapters opens with a brief touch on phonetics and phonology, paying attention to segments that are either not properly classified or those whose status is not well defined; and from there, it looks at some issues in the phonology of the language. The chapter on morphology presents various morphological processes with ample examples and appropriate analyses. The next thirteen chapters focus on syntax, semantics, and their interfaces with emphasis on a detailed description of each topic bringing forth different proposals with different but appropriate analytical tools.
